The Brückenkurs Mathematik (Preparatory Course Mathematics) for computer scientists and mathematicians (formerly known as: Preliminary Course Mathematics) is a two-week course which always starts three weeks prior to the beginning of the lecture period (the third week is reserved for introductory courses). The preparatory course starts in the morning with a lecture and ends in the afternoon with joint practice classes, intended to consolidate newly acquired knowledge.
IMPORTANT: To all students studying Bachelor of Education with the subjects Mathematics and Physics we highly recommend the preparatory course for physicists and meteorologists.
In addition to the daily lecture, the most fundamental component of the preparatory course is the joint practice class under the supervision of tutors. The practice classes help students assess their current level of knowledge and enable them to brush up on any deficient areas before the semester begins.
The preparatory course is also a good way to familiarize yourself with the lecture halls and the campus and to connect with fellow students. Pre-registration is required due to high demand.

Online Mathematik Brückenkurs OMB+ (Preparatory Course Mathematics Online)
In combination with the attendance courses in Mainz, the additional Preparatory Course Mathematics Online (Online Mathematik Brückenkurs, OMB+) is an ideal preparation for the demands of all degree programs with compulsory courses in mathematics. The online course consists of explanatory texts as well as exercises and tests, enabling students to assess their knowledge. Students can decide to either work alone or in groups in virtual tutorials. Specially trained tutors are available to answer your questions on a daily basis from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. (even on the weekends) at the OMB+ call center. Participation is free for first-year students. The online preparatory course is only a supplementary course, whereas participation in the attendance course mentioned above is essential.
